Echo Lake is one of the things that makes our community special. The lake and park are places where families gather, kids play, and neighbors enjoy the outdoors together. Keeping it healthy and beautiful takes all of us doing a few simple things.

Please Dispose of Trash Properly

One of the easiest ways to help Echo Lake is to make sure trash ends up in a garbage can—not on the ground. Even small items like wrappers, bottles, and food scraps can wash into the lake during rainstorms. Once trash reaches the water, it harms wildlife and degrades water quality.

If you bring something to the park, please take a moment to throw it away or bring it back home with you. A clean park helps keep our lake clean.

Avoid Fertilizing Near the Lake

Another important way to protect Echo Lake is to avoid using fertilizer on lawns near the water.  Even fertilizers labeled as “lake safe” are not ideal in our situation. These products are typically designed for lakes that have no phosphorous, so they simply remove phosphorus from the formula. However, they still add nutrients that can encourage algae growth, which our lake does not need. Our lake already has excess phosphorus, so these formulations do not prevent algae blooms in our lake instead they encourage the algae.  Please help do your part by not fertilizing.  

The best option for lawns near Echo Lake is not fertilizing at all. Lake front properties should NEVER fertilize their lawns.

Small Actions Make a Big Difference

Protecting Echo Lake doesn’t require big changes—just thoughtful habits:

Throw trash in proper containers

Pick up litter when you see it

Avoid fertilizing lawns near the lake

When everyone does their part, we help keep Echo Lake clean, healthy, and enjoyable for generations to come.

Don't forget: This Saturday, October 25, from 2-5 PM, is our annual Trunk-or-Treat and Haunted House! This neighborhood event is family-friendly and a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and/or catch up with friends! We'll have food, fun, and (of course) CANDY!

Adults and kids alike are encouraged to come in costume (but all are welcome even if they don’t dress up). Will you win a prize for your costume? Stop by to find out!

Please note, this event will be open ONLY to neighborhood members and their families/guests from 2-5 PM (come early for our taco bar!). Starting at 5 PM, the Haunted House will open to the public.

We hope you’ll join us! Don’t forget to decorate your car if you plan to join the Trunk or Treat and please park in the designated/striped Echo Lake Park parking spaces.

Join your Echo Lake Board on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 7 PM for our Fall 2025 Community Meeting. This event will be held in the Community Center at Echo Lake Park.

We will provide updates for you, our members, about the lake, building, park, events, and rentals. We will also discuss/vote on plans for future community improvements. Light refreshments will be served.

Join me on Wednesday, September 10th at 6:30pm for the first lake committee meeting at the clubhouse.

We will discuss future plans for Echo Lake. Bring lots of ideas!

Due to the warm weather a harmful algae bloom (HAB) is currently present on Echo Lake. For your safety, PLEASE KEEP OUT OF THE WATER. This includes people and pets. If consumed by a dog, blue-green algae can be fatal within 6 hours! We are working to find solutions to this problem and will be talking about options in the future lake committee meetings. Additional information will be provided to our residents when it becomes available. Here is more info from Lake County.

Reminder: Our spring HOA member meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Echo Lake Community building. Please join us as we plan for our next fiscal year and fill current board openings. (Snacks will be provided!)

As mentioned in our October email newsletter, the next Echo Lake Community member meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the Community Building. Community member meetings are held twice yearly (spring and fall). The November meeting will address proposed changes to the community by-laws and the open board position (President) as well as current issues and future plans. Community members are encouraged to attend and those in good standing may participate in voting during the meeting.

We will be opening the Community Center Haunted House on Halloween (Thursday, Oct 31).  We will open around 4pm and keep it open into the evening until we no longer have trick-or-treaters on the streets.  Please stop by especially if you missed the community event on Saturday.  We will also have candy for trick-or-treaters (full size bars as long as they last!)

A quick reminder... Join us on Sat, Oct 26 2-5pm for our big Halloween event.  Trunk or Treat and Haunted House. This is a family friendly event.

The Trunk or Treat will take place in the designated parking spots outside our park. Decorate your car, put on your favorite costume, and bring some treats to share! The haunted house will be in the community building.

The Huntley Tacos Locos truck will stop by from 3:00-4:30 PM for FREE tacos!

It should be lots of fun!

Also if you aren't able to make it this Saturday,  the haunted house will be open to all trick or treaters on Halloween.  Be sure to stop by!

A big thanks to Ned, Greg and Jay for painting new lines for parking spaces at the park. They did a great job!

Our Summer Bash will kick off THIS SATURDAY, July 20, from 1:00PM - 4:00pm with food, music, and fun!

Burgers, hot dogs, chips, desserts, pop, juice and water will all be available. If you have a preferred beverage, feel free to bring it along! The Kona Ice truck will stop by from 2:30-3:00pm for FREE shaved ice treats with TONS of flavors available!
