Dear Echo Lake Community Homeowners:
Echo Lake will receive a treatment to target the coontail (tall growing weeds seen at the lake surface). Below is the recommendation I received from Clarke:
Clarke will be performing the herbicide application on Echo Lake this Wednesday, June 14th targeting some coontail, a submerged aquatic plant (we will be maintaining some growth as this is a beneficial, native species in our lakes). According to the herbicide label, it is safe to utilize the lake for swimming, boating and fishing on the day of treatment. My personal recommend is to have residents stay out of the treatment zones just on Wednesday to allow the herbicide to absorb into the plants and not get displaced by swimming or recreational activities. Our treatment will NOT be performed in the beach area; so it would be fine to let people swim at the beach (especially with these 90 degree temps).
There is a 3 day irrigation restriction after the herbicide application is made, please notify all residents with irrigation systems that are drawing water out of the lake to discontinue use until 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 17th.
Please feel free to contact me if there is anything else you might need.
Sincerely,
Anne McMorris
Lake Commissioner
